After 27 years in group homes, Ben now lives in his own apartment with a housemate he chose, in the heart of Brunswick.
With support from the HOME, Ben moved into a Specialist Disability Accommodation apartment where he shares life (and a balcony view) with Colleen, a vibrant and kind companion who brings joy and connection to his days.
Bens supports are funded under Individualised Living Options (ILO). Ben arrangement is managed by HOME.
The shift has been profound. Ben can finally choose what he eats, who he lives with, and how he spends his time. He is learning how to relax, properly relax, for the first time in decades. Early mornings on the rooftop. Cooking and laughing with Colleen. Running into familiar faces in the neighborhood.
