MDS NATURAL Rental

Private Rental and Natural Supports

People who live in a combination of Private Rental and Natural supports will have found a rental property which they can afford in an area that they identify with. The property will hopefully be on an extended lease, and there will have been a process of matching to other residents if the person does not live alone. People who live in this combination will have lower support needs.

What this looks like: You will live either alone or with others in a private rental. You have lower support needs, which means that you don’t require any formal supports coming into the home. This will mean that you get all of your support from family, friends or neighbours.

This model of support needs to be carefully considered and planned. Its worthwhile thinking about setting up a Circle of Support to make sure that you have some regulation or governance over your natural supports, and to have people you check in with regularly.
