MDS SIL Ownership

Home Ownership and Supported Independent Living (SIL)

People who live in a combination of Home Ownership and Supported Independent Living will receive 24/7 supports in their own home. They may share with others who have a disability or they may live alone.

What this looks like: Your high support needs mean that you require 24/7 support. You will have identified a provider of Supported Independent Living who will operate in the home that you or your family own, delivering around the clock care. You will have an agreement with your provider that sets out how you need to be supported. You will have gone through a process of matching to other residents who live in the home if you share. It’s important to note, that in this model, you will not be able to live with your family members and also a SIL provider, unless they are in a separate dwelling (separated by a fire wall if on the same block).
